Pierson Stoecklein serves as a Senior Advisor for CO2EFFICIENT. Pierson has 15+ years of experience advising companies and organizations on complex legal, public policy, and regulatory issues in the agriculture, data center, energy and transportation industries. Most recently, as Senior Corporate Counsel at AWS, Pierson led global regulatory advocacy on a variety of high-impact artificial intelligence, critical infrastructure, energy, environmental, product safety and compliance, trade, and sustainability issues.  He also co-led AWS’s global engagement on data center performance policies and standards governing energy efficiency, water consumption, carbon intensity, heat reuse, and noise abatement.

Prior to AWS, Pierson was Head of Policy & Regulatory Counsel at Mainspring Energy and spent time at several large law and policy consulting firms.  Pierson began his career in public service in the office of Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), working on issues related to offshore wind project development and renewable energy production on public lands. Pierson also held policy and legal roles at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he was an expert in independent merchant transmission regulation.
