MICHAEL YANCEY
 

Michael Yancey is a Director of Policy and Advocacy at CO2EFFICIENT.

Before joining CO2EFFICIENT, Michael worked for seven years in the U.S. House of Representatives for Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), performing a variety of roles during his tenure. Most recently, Michael served as Energy Policy Advisor for Dr. Burgess, focusing on energy and environmental policy in the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Rules Committee. In this role, he worked on a variety of energy legislation to promote free markets, ensure reliable energy infrastructure, and accelerate innovation in the energy sector. Specifically, Michael helped shepherd the Congressman’s legislation on electric grid reliability and electric vehicle infrastructure into law.

Previously, Michael served as a Legislative Assistant for Dr. Burgess, advising the Congressman on a wide portfolio including energy, finance, trade, and other related issues. In this role, he worked on the 2020 Energy Policy Act, COVID-19 relief programs, and provided data-based insight during crises such as the 2021 Texas blackouts and the 2020 oil price crisis.

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in business administration from Texas A&M University and his Master of Arts in defense and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Rhode Island.
